Private Insurance
In 2008, Congress passed the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act. It requires that private insurance companies provide the same level of coverage for addiction treatment as it would for surgical or medical care. However, the level of care and coverage do vary depending on the individual insurance policy.
